Medical Assistant - LV Trop Family Med Cl - Full Time 8, 10, 12 Hour Rotating Shifts (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

About the Role

Assists physicians with patient care, clinical procedures, and administrative duties in a medical office setting.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and obtains/records vital signs and medication lists.
• Monitors patient flow and assists physicians with minor clinical procedures, including EKGs.
• Schedules diagnostic tests as ordered by the physician.
• Prepares patient charts with pertinent medical information, including x-rays and lab work.
• Sets up exam rooms, ensures they are stocked, organized, cleaned, and disinfected.
• Performs venipuncture or capillary blood draws for specimen collection.
• Receives, screens, processes, and distributes lab specimens according to established guidelines.
• Records patient information in electronic health records (EHR) per Joint Commission standards.
• Maintains office supply inventory, handles clerical duties (photocopying, faxing, mailing), and manages incoming mail.
• Ensures compliance with infection control, safety, and privacy policies.
• Provides coverage for co-workers and communicates patient status as needed.
• Implements physician orders for medications and treatments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) certification (if applicable).
• Current Medical Laboratory Personnel License – NV (if applicable).
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in an acute care setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with word processing, GECB, COR, Cerner, ProSolv, and scheduling software.

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position is $22.00–$34.18.
