Patient Access Representative I
Responsibilities
- Serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors.
- Verifies insurance benefits and coverage.
- Collects and verifies patient and insurance demographics.
- Provides cost estimates and pre-certifications.
- Ensures accurate and timely reporting/billing.
- Communicates with patients regarding insurance coverage and financial assistance.
- Maintains department scheduling templates.
- Assists with incomplete patient registration paperwork.
- Distributes admission documents if required.
- Affixes signatures and performs clerical duties as necessary.
- Collaborates with the Care Management team and Social Work departments.
- Trains new Admitting staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a high school level education.
- Experience in a clerical, customer service, or receptionist position, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of applicable hospital and physician billing requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Epic system.
