Patient Access Representative - Breast & High Risk Clinic

About the Role

The Patient Access Representative is primarily responsible for completing an efficient and organized check-in/out for patients, ensuring throughput and customer service are top priorities. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, verifying insurance during registration, collecting accurate patient information while ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance, answering multi-line phones, directing calls courteously, collecting copayments and patient balances, and scanning or filing documents into the medical record.

Responsibilities

• Complete efficient and organized patient check-in/out processes.
• Ensure high levels of customer service and throughput.
• Schedule appointments and verify insurance during registration.
• Collect accurate patient information while maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Answer multi-line phones and direct calls in a polite and courteous manner.
• Collect copayments and patient balances.
• Scan or file documents into the medical record as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to operate a computer, copier, and fax machine.
• Good communication skills and patience.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Previous knowledge of medical terminology.
• Willingness to learn all aspects of the office and work as a team player.
• Ability to work well with others in a busy environment.
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Proof of enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary or vocational program may also be accepted.

Physical Demands

• Must possess good physical health.
• Standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time.
• Lifting at least 10 pounds is required.
• Ability to work with a moderate level of noise.

• Frequently (34%-66%): None.
• Occasionally (1%-33%): lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm (40 scheduled weekly hours).
