Full-time, evening shift (3–11 pm) position in the Emergency Department at Trinity Health Livingston. 36 hours per week, fully on-site. May be filled as Patient Access level I or II based on experience and qualifications.
Pay
Minimum rate of pay: $16.92 per hour.

Purpose
Provides patient-focused customer service within the Emergency Department. Performs outpatient and inpatient registration and insurance verification; collects patient financial liability payments and ensures compliance with Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals. Offers general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification required within one year of hire
Responsibilities
- Research, collect, and analyze information; identify opportunities, develop solutions, and lead through resolution
- Collaborate on performance improvement activities based on program efficiency and patient experience outcomes
- Distribute analytical reports
- Utilize multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports, and develop educational materials
- Synthesize and analyze data, providing detailed summaries with graphical presentations to illustrate trends and recommend practical solutions
- Leverage program and operational data to define and demonstrate progress, ROI, and impacts
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and other policies to ensure adherence
Work Conditions
- Exposure to unpleasant conditions (sight, touch, sound, smell), fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, biohazards, mechanical/electrical hazards, radiation, sharp objects, infectious waste, diseases, and stressful situations
- Occasional interruptions and shifting priorities

- Continuous ability to read small print, hear sounds and speech patterns, and communicate instructions verbally (in-person, phone, or device) with background noise

- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and use of upper/lower extremities
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds unassisted
- Occasional physical efforts such as transporting, moving, positioning, or ambulating patients
- Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment
Additional Responsibilities for Patient Access Rep II
- Performs all aspects of the Patient Access Rep I role
- Cross-trained in Pre-Service, Emergency Department, and/or Bed Desk activities
Qualifications for Patient Access Rep II
- Minimum of two years of hospital registration or insurance verification experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic coding, and procedural coding
- Ability to explain insurance benefits
