You'd be working at a hospital in Fountain Valley, handling patient registration for procedures, admissions, outpatient visits, and ER visits. This is a fast-paced, detail-heavy front office role working directly with patients and their insurance information.
Responsibilities
- Register and pre-register patients accurately and on time
- Verify demographic and insurance information for each patient
- Ensure registration forms are complete, signed, and scanned
- Collect and post patient payments, and secure them in the safe or cash drawer immediately
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and clinicians
- Maintain a registration accuracy rate of 95 percent or better
- Monitor and manage assigned work queues
- Answer and route calls professionally, including emergency codes and alarm protocols
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and use two patient identifiers for every registration
Requirements
- General knowledge of insurance payors such as PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Medicare, and Medi-Cal
- Comfortable using electronic medical record systems and general computer programs
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of medical office, admitting, or registration experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, or English and Vietnamese
- High school diploma
- Medical terminology course or certificate
- Experience with Epic
