Patient Access Representative
About the Role
As our Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in the revenue cycle at Saint Mary's Community Hospital, serving as a primary point of contact for patients and their families. This position is vital for ensuring a seamless patient experience by accurately managing registration, scheduling, and admitting workflows. You will join a dedicated healthcare team, acting as an essential liaison who upholds our organizational values while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA, privacy standards, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Patient Registration: Manage the end-to-end registration process by accurately capturing demographic information, performing insurance eligibility verification, and ensuring all documentation is completed correctly within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Financial Coordination & Collections: Proactively communicate patient financial responsibilities, including estimated liabilities, and facilitate the collection of payments at the time of service to support revenue cycle goals.
- Scheduling & Workflow Management: Coordinate patient appointments and clinical schedules while actively identifying and resolving routine registration or insurance discrepancies to ensure seamless access to care.
- Professional Patient Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, families, and internal departments, providing high-quality service, answering inquiries, and routing communications with professional, patient-centered care.
- Compliance & Data Integrity: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA, privacy standards, and organizational policies while accurately indexing and managing sensitive patient documentation to support clinical and billing operations.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or High School GED, upon hire.
- 1 year of relevant experience in healthcare, preferably in a patient access setting.
- Knowledge of patient registration procedures and documentation.
- Knowledge of health insurance payers and real-time insurance eligibility verifications.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and data entry.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to cross-functional workflows.
- Commitment to patient-centered service and maintaining clinical confidentiality.

Pay
$17.24 - $24.35 per hour.
