Job Summary
Affords assistance in coordinating activities between scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification. Serves as a clinical liaison with physician practices, engaging in pre-visit services.
Details of the Position
- Pre-registers/registers patients with accurate patient demographic and financial data.
- Collects patient balances, co-payment, co-insurance, or other payment types.
- Verifies coverage and ensures all insurance requirements are met, obtaining necessary prior authorizations and referrals as required.
- Responds to customer inquiries.
- Assists with departmental coverage as needed.
- Moves patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, with 1 year of medical office or related customer service experience required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding (preferred).
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook (preferred).
- Knowledge of insurance processes and regulations (preferred).
- Ability to manage conflict effectively and professionally.
- Excellent time management skills, emphasizing meeting time-sensitive deadlines.
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills.

- St. John Medical Center: May assist with scheduling for other imaging services and/or ancillary services.
Working Conditions
- Operates computer and other office equipment.
- Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Sedentary work.
- Mainly operates in an office environment.
- Communicates and exchanges accurate information.
- Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
