Patient Access Rep - PT, Varies/Rotating

About the role

The Patient Access Representative facilitates all components of the patient's entrance into Mercy facilities, including scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and register patients
  • Verify patient insurance and benefits
  • Pre-certify services
  • Ensure accurate patient data entry
  • Work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and insurance companies
  • Perform duties in line with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards

Requirements

  • 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service experience preferred
  • Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
  • High School diploma required; some college helpful
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under stress and perform tasks with high accuracy
  • Knowledgeable with various computer systems and able to use a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard
  • Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to perform duties requiring gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting

Qualifications

A High School diploma is required, along with some college education. Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans is preferred, as is 1-3 years of clerical and customer service experience.
