Patient Access Rep - PT, Varies/Rotating
About the role
The Patient Access Representative facilitates all components of the patient's entrance into Mercy facilities, including scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and register patients
- Verify patient insurance and benefits
- Pre-certify services
- Ensure accurate patient data entry
- Work under stress and meet deadlines
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and insurance companies
- Perform duties in line with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards
Requirements
- 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service experience preferred
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
- High School diploma required; some college helpful
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under stress and perform tasks with high accuracy
- Knowledgeable with various computer systems and able to use a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard
- Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to perform duties requiring gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting
Qualifications
A High School diploma is required, along with some college education. Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans is preferred, as is 1-3 years of clerical and customer service experience.
