About the Role

Patient Access Representative is primarily responsible for completing an efficient and organized registration, admission and insurance verification of all inpatients and outpatients. Excellent customer service and ensuring that accurate information is collected. Informs patients and assures they are aware of their rights as determined by HIPAA regulations and Harris Health System policy. Ensures all accounts contain comprehensive and accurate data to provide for timely billing and optimal reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Complete efficient and organized registration, admission, and insurance verification for all inpatients and outpatients.
  • Provide excellent customer service and collect accurate patient information.
  • Inform patients of their rights as determined by HIPAA regulations and Harris Health System policy.
  • Ensure all accounts contain comprehensive and accurate data for timely billing and optimal reimbursement.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a customer service-focused manner.
  • Handle detail work accurately and rapidly, and effectively multi-task.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • Above average verbal communication skills, with heavy public contact.
  • Proficiency in PC and MS Word.
  • Strong people interaction skills and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and apply language of caring principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work rapidly and accurately.

Schedule
