About the role
We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Your role will be vital in ensuring smooth patient flow and enhancing the overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and guests courteously via phone or in person
- Schedule appointments or complete admissions for patients
- Obtain and verify accurate patient identification and demographic data
- Perform point-of-service collections and manage patient registration
- Verify insurance using electronic methods, phone, or web applications
- Facilitate efficient and accurate financial transactions
- Balance cash drawer daily and prepare deposit slips
- Represent the organization professionally and improve patient satisfaction
- Support multiple functions across different patient and payer types
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
- Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification) preferred
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and healthcare-specific software
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle high-stress situations
- Organizational and time management skills
- Excellent decision-making and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree preferred
Skills
- Computer skills for data entry and information retrieval
- Keyboard proficiency
- Interpersonal skills to represent the company professionally
- Technical knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits and payer guidelines
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local billing regulations
