About the role

We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Reporting to the Registration Team Lead, you'll greet patients and guests courteously, initiate scheduling, and ensure smooth patient registration and admission processes. Your role will involve collecting accurate patient information, verifying insurance details, and ensuring patient satisfaction through professional interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
  • Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
  • Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
  • Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
  • Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
  • Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships, and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Adapt to different patient populations, respecting privacy and adapting communication styles.
  • Other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, or similar customer service-related environment.
  • Experience in front-line registration, financial counseling, or similar roles involving direct patient/customer interaction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in healthcare insurance benefits and payer guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and healthcare-specific software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and maintain a high level of professionalism under pressure.

Skills

  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits and payer guidelines.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle high-stress situations.
  • Good attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Collaborative working abilities with other departments.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
