Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary point of contact for intake calls from Children's providers, external consults, and parent inquiries.
- Routes calls to pertinent lab areas or Pathologists to obtain clinical expertise for patients.
- Captures and compiles necessary patient and case information for Pathologists.
- Manages CAP proficiency test process.
- Processes laboratory reports to send to outside providers.
- Coordinates processes and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the Pathology department.
- Coordinates specimen slide or block retrieval for Pathologists.
- Serves as the main contact for autopsy processing and reporting.
- Responsible for copying and faxing documents to designated recipients.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Proficient secretarial skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficiency in the English language with excellent grammar and spelling.
- Experience in health care preferred.
- Experience typing at a speed of 55 WPM and excellent transcription skills.
- Experience working with various levels within an organization.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar software.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three (3) years of administrative assistant/secretarial experience.
- No certification required.
- No supervisory experience required.
