Pathology - Cytopathology Physician

About the Role

Diagnose diseases by examining laboratory specimens such as Fine Needle Aspirations and Non-Gynecological samples, providing critical diagnostic information to physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct microscopic analysis of tissue sections, smears, and cytospins from various body fluids.
  • Identify etiology, morphological changes, and clinical significance of slides.
  • Prepare detailed pathology reports and communicate findings to healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with physicians on test interpretation and treatment planning.
  • Participate in proficiency testing, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities.
  • Educate laboratory staff, students, and residents; capture photomicrographs of diagnostic importance.
  • Consult with peers on challenging cases and, when necessary, serve as an expert witness.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and confidentiality policies.
  • Engage in ongoing training and departmental meetings.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved pathology residency.
  • Board certification in anatomic pathology and cytopathology.
  • Valid medical license in the relevant state.
  • Strong microscopic examination skills, color discrimination, and physical ability to handle laboratory tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a well-lit, controlled environment with occasional physical exertion.
