About the Role
Diagnose diseases by examining laboratory specimens such as Fine Needle Aspirations and Non-Gynecological samples, providing critical diagnostic information to physicians.
Responsibilities
- Conduct microscopic analysis of tissue sections, smears, and cytospins from various body fluids.
- Identify etiology, morphological changes, and clinical significance of slides.
- Prepare detailed pathology reports and communicate findings to healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with physicians on test interpretation and treatment planning.
- Participate in proficiency testing, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities.
- Educate laboratory staff, students, and residents; capture photomicrographs of diagnostic importance.
- Consult with peers on challenging cases and, when necessary, serve as an expert witness.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and confidentiality policies.
- Engage in ongoing training and departmental meetings.
Requirements
- Completion of an approved pathology residency.
- Board certification in anatomic pathology and cytopathology.
- Valid medical license in the relevant state.
- Strong microscopic examination skills, color discrimination, and physical ability to handle laboratory tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a well-lit, controlled environment with occasional physical exertion.
