About the role
This position involves diagnosing diseases through laboratory techniques on Fine Needle Aspirations and Non-Gynecological specimens, including microscopic examination of tissue sections, smears, and cytospins from various body fluids.
Responsibilities
- Identify etiology, morphological changes, and clinical significance of slides.
- Provide diagnostic reports and consult with physicians on test interpretation and treatments.
- Participate in proficiency testing, quality improvement, and professional development activities.
- Train and educate laboratory personnel, students, and residents.
- Capture photomicrographs of diagnostic significance and collaborate on difficult cases.
- May testify as an expert witness and ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.
Qualifications
- Completion of an approved residency in anatomic and/or clinical pathology.
- Board certification in Cytopathology and certification/qualification equivalent to the American Board of Pathology.
- Active medical license in the relevant state and successful completion of a color discrimination test.
- Adherence to continuing education requirements and maintaining medical staff privileges.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Requires physical activity such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Visual and color discrimination abilities are necessary.
- Work setting is well-lit and temperature-controlled, with occasional interruptions.
- Adherence to safety protocols to minimize exposure risks.
