Patent Agent - Dallas

About the role

The Commercial Practice Group of Baker McKenzie seeks a Patent Agent for their Intellectual Property Sub-practice group to join their Dallas office. They are only willing to view candidates currently located outside of Dallas who are open to relocating to Dallas for this position (Baker will not support/pay for relocation for this position).

Responsibilities

• Prepare responses to office actions and other US Patent and Trademark (USPTO) communications.
• Study invention disclosures and prepare patent specifications.
• Perform prior art searches.
• Assist with litigation and transactional projects.
• Communicate with clients and foreign counsel.

Requirements

• Admitted to the USPTO.
• At least 5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience as a patent agent or technical advisor.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Strong analytical ability.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Ability to function and collaborate in a global team environment with culturally diverse team members.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related science.
• A preference for candidates with a master's degree.

Skills

• Patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
