Pastry Cook- Part Time

This position is available at Benchmark Basking Ridge Hotel, part of Pyramid Global Hospitality. The hotel is located in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and is one of the top 3 Best Places to Work in NJ. The role offers an opportunity to prepare great breads and desserts in a supportive and creative environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all baked goods according to recipe standards or direction from Culinary Management
• Responsible for plating and garnishing all Banquet/Outlet desserts
• Keep all food rotated and separated in accordance with FDA regulations
• Maintain a safe, organized and sanitary work area
• Follow production sheets for each day in consultation with the Pastry Chef and/or Sous Chef
• Must be willing to cross train in all areas of the pastry kitchen and other areas of culinary
• In the absence of the Pastry Chef or Assistant Pastry Chef, consult with Sous Chef for any changes in Banquet/Outlet needs for that day and upcoming days
• Maintains all equipment in a clean and operational order, reporting any breakdowns/faults to a culinary manager
• Maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen environment always in compliance with all local and state codes, prepared for Food and Safety evaluations
• Helps ensure all relevant logs are completed, filled out correctly and ready for inspection
• Absolutely must be willing to work a variety of day/night and weekend shifts

• Able to be on your feet for long periods of time

• Ability to follow recipes and directions to uphold consistency in all baked goods
• Creative and artistic ability to produce a wide variety of baked goods
• Detail oriented with a sense of urgency
• Enjoys taking on challenges

Skills

• Knowledge and good understanding of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
