About the role
The Pastry Baker is responsible for baking from scratch production of artisan baked goods, including laminated pastries, breakfast pastries, cookies, pies, individual pastries, and cakes, including wedding cakes. Within a commercial bakery setting, they ensure the quality, taste, and consistency of pastry while adhering to food safety standards. They collaborate with other bakery staff to meet production goals and deliver exceptional products to customers.
Responsibilities
- Performs all areas of pastry production that includes making from scratch pastry baked goods, including laminated pastries, breakfast pastries, cookies, pies, individual pastries, and cakes, including wedding cakes.
- Contributes to improvement of bakery operations by participating in product development, menu planning, keeping current with baking trends, innovation.
- Completes bakery administration tasks as necessary, which may include product ordering, and assisting in monitoring inventory.
- Works cross functionally with departments in the facility and companywide.
- Participates in professional development as recommended by leadership or self-directed.
- Sustains a clean work environment and adheres to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assists in training interns and new bakers.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years baking experience, preferably in a professional baking environment.
- Demonstrated ability in consistently producing exceptional baked products.
- Demonstrated ability in proficiency and accuracy with scaling, mixing, baking, and finish work.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years baking experience, preferably in a professional baking environment.
Skills

Pay
$19.64 to $22.14 per hour worked; commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week with one weekend day required. The shifts are five 8-hour days or four 10-hour days and start as early as 3:00AM.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Location
Location: Norwich, VT; onsite daily.
Physical requirements/work environment
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time.
- Used hands to handle, control, feel objects, tools and controls.
- This is a physically demanding role, requiring standing, walking, and frequently lifting up to 10 hours a day.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to operate commercial bakery equipment.
- Repeat the same movements.
- Exposed to hot temperatures and loud environment.
- Safety: Understands that safety is the responsibility of everyone at the organization. Is responsible for providing a safe and ergonomically sound work environment, identifying unsafe conditions and correcting these conditions immediately. Engages in safety and compliance training programs and encourage 100% team participation in same.

- Hair and facial hair covering must be worn (hair/beard net) (provided).
- Jewelry is not permitted, unless it is a permanent piercing or a plain wedding band.
- Gloves when handling baked goods post bake.
