About the role
The Parts & Service Center Manager oversees daily operations, ensuring compliance with national account programs, excellent communication, and efficient documentation. This role also involves pre-job coordination, scheduling, quality control, material usage review, training, inventory management, safety compliance, cleanliness, and organization.
Responsibilities
- Drive excellence in service work and turnaround times
- Elevate communication with internal and external customers
- Maintain accurate paperwork and seamless paper flow
- Review and verify quoted hours and materials on work orders
- Collaborate with technicians to ensure full understanding of repair scope
- Schedule units while adapting to customer expectations
- Own the quality process by conducting thorough checks on completed units
- Ensure optimal material use and promptly submit paperwork to materials department
- Inspire a winning Parts team culture by defining clear job roles
- Safeguard the Parts & Service areas to maintain a secure, efficient workspace
- Resolve parts shortages caused by allocation conflicts
- Train the estimator/coordinator on service coordination and parts sales
- Manage NCR returns and ensure credits are processed or justified
- Implement and train planners on JDE system for precise inventory management
- Support the annual physical inventory process for Parts and Service departments
- Ensure inventory levels align with customer and regional facility demands
- Enforce company and OSHA regulations, recommend improvements, and foster a secure work environment
- Lead weekly safety meetings and coordinate OSHA training
- Maintain a spotless, 5S-standard workspace in the main shop and paint department
- Tackle other assigned tasks with enthusiasm and professionalism
Requirements
- Preferred educational background relevant to the role
- Proven leadership skills managing teams and operations
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience repairing trucks and trailers
- Previous experience running a repair facility
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Understanding of basic credit and collections processes
- Self-motivation to take initiative and drive results
- Ability to work well with others and foster collaboration
- Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Exceptional communication skills, including phone etiquette
Qualifications
- Physical requirements: Seated for eight hours, standing, walking, reaching, handling, feeling, and reaching up to 25 pounds
- Work in an active manufacturing plant environment
- Work in a non-climate-controlled setting
