About The Role
As our Lead Parts Counterperson & Inventory Coordinator, you'll serve as the operational leader of the parts counter while helping ensure our inventory remains accurate, organized, and ready to support a fast-paced commercial service operation. You'll work closely with our Company Inventory Manager to maintain inventory integrity, oversee receiving processes, monitor returns, verify inventory accuracy, and ensure technicians have the right parts at the right time. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing customer service with operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management & Control
- Partner with the Company Inventory Manager to maintain accurate inventory levels
- Monitor inventory accuracy through regular on-hand count verification and cycle counts
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly
- Ensure all received parts are verified for accuracy and properly entered into inventory
- Oversee receiving processes to ensure timely stocking and documentation
- Monitor and process vendor returns, warranty returns, cores, and customer returns
- Maintain inventory organization to maximize efficiency and minimize obsolescence
- Help identify inventory trends and opportunities to improve stocking levels
- Parts Counter Operations
- Assist technicians and customers in identifying and purchasing the correct parts
- Provide accurate pricing, availability, warranty information, and estimated delivery times
- Process parts invoices, payments, credits, and related documentation accurately
- Coordinate special orders, backorders, and will-call inventory
- Build strong working relationships with technicians, vendors, and customers through responsive, professional service
- Leadership
- Lead and support Parts Counter team members in daily operations
- Assist with training and onboarding new employees
- Help establish consistent procedures and best practices
- Conduct monthly team meetings focused on communication, inventory performance, and continuous improvement
- Foster a positive, collaborative team environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three or more years of automotive dealership parts experience
- Strong understanding of dealership parts inventory systems and inventory control practices
- Experience managing receiving, returns, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
