The Role
The Parts Specialist works towards returning a profit on dealer capital invested in parts inventory. The role involves effective ordering procedures, accurate inventory control, efficiency & accountability, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying and advertising.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers (both internal & external) to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Determines and ensures that specialty parts are available for the customer at the right time.
- Encourages the sale of branded parts.
- Reviews stock ordering practices with Parts Manager.
- Guarantees that customer service telephone inquiries are handled quickly and effectively.
- Desires challenging work in a changing environment.
- Deals creatively and logically with any problems that arise, while expressing empathy for customers and their problems.
- Uses computers to monitor daily operations, track inventory, and reduce obsolescence.
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Degree or equivalent.
- Two years in an automotive parts department preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver's License & Clean driving record.
- Dealertrack & X-Time experience a plus, but not required.
- Excellent Computer skills.
