Responsibilities
- Sell parts to all customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone.
- Aid all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts based on customer needs.
- Inform customers about companion part requirements, specials, and the full product line.
- Answer phone calls, provide price quotes, and offer other information.
- Handle incoming orders from stock, notify the parts manager of out-of-stock parts, and submit emergency orders if necessary.
- Notify the service advisor and customer when special ordered parts have arrived.
- Follow up on back-ordered parts and verify will-call and back-order files weekly.
- Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
- Manage internal requests for parts and ensure they are billed correctly.
- Issue credit for parts returned and ensure the original invoice is available for verification.
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Solicit assigned accounts by phone.
- Participate in inventory management duties as needed.
- Ensure front and rear counter areas are clean and uncluttered.
- Participate in all training programs offered.
- Stay updated on new products and product updates.
- Work with the parts manager to maintain a lost sales tracking program.
- Work in a team environment.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Manage inventory accuracy, restock, and ensure proper merchandise presentation.
- Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies.
Qualifications
- Three to six months’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge required.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents, speak effectively, perform mathematical calculations, and apply common sense understanding.
- Absolutely necessary: Valid Driver's License meeting company insurability standards.
Skills
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications preferred, Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist Certification preferred.
