About the role
Join Hunter Truck, a family-owned Peterbilt dealership since 1938, known for integrity, teamwork, and outstanding service across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire. This full-time position is based in Bow, NH, and focuses on selling parts to customers over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone.
Responsibilities
- Assist all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner based on customer needs.
- Inform customers of companion part requirements, specials, and ensure exposure to the full product line.
- Answer phone calls, provide price quotes, and other information.
- Provide a high level of service to internal and external customers.
- Pull and fill orders from stock.
- Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials needing immediate attention.
- Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submit emergency orders if necessary.
- Notify the service advisor and customer when special ordered parts are received.
- Follow up on back-ordered parts.
- Verify will-call and back-order files weekly; return or stock items not picked up or required.
- Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
- Ensure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair orders.
- Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
- Ensure all charge sales are signed by the customer.
- Ensure customers receive their copy of the invoice.
- Issue credit for parts returned, verifying original invoice or its number for purchase and pricing.
- Maintain orderly records of repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special order parts.
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Solicit assigned accounts by phone.
- Assist with inventory management duties as needed.
- Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
- Participate in all available training programs.
- Stay current on new products and product updates.
- Work with the parts manager to maintain a lost sales tracking program.
- Work in a team environment and maintain a professional appearance.
- Manage inventory accuracy, restock, and ensure proper merchandise presentation.
- Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies to reinforce a safe work environment.
Requirements
- Three to six months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications preferred.
- Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist Certification preferred.
- Valid Driver's License required; must meet company insurability standards.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
