Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Assistance
- Greet customers and service technicians promptly and courteously
- Identify the correct parts based on customer or technician descriptions, vehicle identification numbers (VIN), or visual inspections
- Provide detailed information on parts availability, pricing, and any current promotions
- Answer customer inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email, ensuring timely responses to requests
- Parts Ordering & Inventory Management
- Accurately process orders for automotive parts and accessories
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of inventory levels and ensure parts are stocked appropriately
- Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing parts as they arrive, ensuring accuracy in parts shipments
- Perform regular inventory checks to identify any discrepancies and report findings to the Parts Manager
- Sales & Upselling
- Recommend additional products or accessories to enhance the customer’s vehicle or improve its performance
- Promote dealership services and products during customer interactions to help increase sales
- Inform customers of special promotions, sales, and manufacturer rebates on parts and accessories
- Collaboration with Service Department
- Work closely with service technicians to ensure they have the correct parts for repairs and maintenance tasks
- Ensure parts are readily available for scheduled appointments and communicate any delays or backorders to the service department
- Aid service advisors in estimating part costs for customer repairs
- Administrative Duties
- Accurately process all paperwork related to parts orders, invoices, and payments
- Maintain detailed and organized records of transactions, returns, and warranties
- Use dealership software to manage parts inventory, pricing, and order tracking
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional automotive training or certifications are a plus
- Proven experience in an automotive parts department or retail parts environment is preferred
- Familiarity with automotive parts and their functions
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to use parts catalogs and dealership software (experience with CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar systems is a plus)
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to keep an accurate and efficient parts inventory
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the parts department for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced dealership environment
- This position requires working in a dealership parts department, which may involve exposure to automotive parts, tools, and equipment
- Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required based on the dealership’s schedule
- This position offers an hourly wage, with the potential for bonuses based on parts sales
