Partner, Matrimonial Law
About the role
This premier New York matrimonial and family law practice seeks an accomplished Matrimonial Partner to join the growing partnership and further expand the firm’s position as a market leader in high-stakes family law litigation and counseling. The practice represents ultra-high-net-worth individuals, founders, private equity principals, hedge fund executives, celebrities, professional athletes, family office members, and multigenerational wealth families in their most sensitive personal and financial disputes, handling sophisticated divorce, custody, support, valuation, prenuptial, and postnuptial matters.
Responsibilities
- First-chair complex divorce and custody litigation
- Representation of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals
- Courtroom advocacy and high-stakes negotiation
- Collaboration with forensic accountants, valuation experts, and support staff
- Media relations support for high-profile matters
- Cross-referrals from trusts & estates, private wealth, tax, and corporate practices
- Business development and networking within New York’s legal, financial, and private wealth communities
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the New York State Bar
- 10+ years of sophisticated matrimonial and family law experience
- Significant first-chair experience handling complex divorce and custody litigation
- Demonstrated expertise representing high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals
- Strong courtroom presence and negotiation skills
- Established referral network within the New York legal, financial, and private wealth communities
- Portable book of business of at least $750,000
Preferred Experience
- Matters involving $10M+ marital estates
- Executive compensation and deferred compensation disputes
- Closely-held business valuation issues
- International custody and asset tracing matters
- High-profile or reputation-sensitive representations
- Experience working with family offices, private equity executives, hedge fund professionals, and entrepreneurial founders

Compensation
Highly competitive base salary plus origination credit, discretionary bonus, and equity track consideration. Target range: $350,000 – $500,000 per year.
