East Elementary in Cedar City, UT is seeking two part-time (27.5 hours per week) Title I Reading Paraprofessionals to support the instructional program. This position will remain open until filled.
About the role
Under the direction of the supervising teacher, the Title I Reading Paraprofessional provides instructional support with a focus on disadvantaged students, assisting in supervision, care, and instruction. This role involves working with student groups, implementing instructional plans, monitoring behavior, assessing students, and communicating progress to instructional staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional support to students and student groups, reinforcing classroom objectives.
- Participate in developing and maintaining systems for classroom and small-group management.
- Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with peers.
- Conduct classroom activities and assignments under the direction of the supervising teacher.
- Maintain instructional materials and records, including test scores and electronic files.
- Deliver instruction in individual and group settings (e.g., literacy, math) to reinforce learning objectives.
- Assist in assessing students and responding to data to improve achievement.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and in-service training programs (e.g., paraeducator conferences, medical needs trainings).
- Report observations and incidents (e.g., progress, behavior, academic achievement) to instructional staff.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as student injuries or socially inappropriate behavior.
- Communicate regularly with supervising staff to evaluate student progress.
- Operate office equipment, including computers and copy machines.
- Comply with district policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Basic computer knowledge, including familiarity with Google Docs and frequent email use.
- Willingness to learn and use all required computer systems and software.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance.
