About the Role
Part-time routesetting position (3 days/week) focused on creating boulder problems and routes that are fun, interesting, and creative. Collaborate with the team to develop and refine climbing challenges, forerun routes, and provide constructive feedback. Perform basic maintenance tasks and keep the gym and holds room organized.
Responsibilities
- Create boulder problems and routes with an emphasis on fun, creativity, and challenge
- Collaborate and co-create with the routesetting team
- Forerun routes and problems, providing and receiving constructive feedback
- Make appropriate changes based on feedback
- Wash holds as assigned by the Head Setter
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, including keeping the gym tidy and tools organized
- Maintain an organized holds room
- Participate in setting for competitions hosted by the gym when needed
- Participate in Quarterly and Annual review processes
Requirements
- At least 1 year of routesetting experience
- Ability to effectively forerun V5 and 5.12-
- Capable of setting 2 routes in rope terrain
- Capable of setting 5-6 boulders per day
- Strong understanding of climbing techniques and movement skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic understanding of USAC rules, regulations, and policies
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of routesetting experience
- Ability to effectively forerun V8 and 5.13
- USAC Level 1 certification
Pay
$22-$27/hour (based on experience and skills)
