Role Overview The Hospital Registrar 1 is responsible for ensuring a smooth patient registration and admission process, collecting accurate demographic, clinical, and insurance data, and managing financial screening for self-pay and out-of-network patients. The role involves greeting patients, directing them appropriately, registering and admitting patients via EPIC, verifying insurance information, and obtaining necessary authorizations and consents. The registrar also provides patient wayfinding and excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulations. Key Responsibilities Perform patient registration, demographic documentation, and financial screeningVerify insurance details, obtain referrals, and manage authorization requirementsCollect co-pays, residuals, and balances; initiate payment plans and POS collectionsTranscribe physician orders, determine ICD-10 codes, and ensure accurate documentationManage medical records, scan documents, and facilitate scheduling for ancillary testingProvide excellent customer service, support process improvement, and maintain compliance standards Qualifications & Skills High School Diploma or equivalentAt least 1 year of customer service or healthcare experienceProficiency in medical terminology and typing (30 WPM)Preferred skills include familiarity with Windows, EPIC, and third-party verification systems The role emphasizes professionalism, accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional patient interaction, contributing to overall hospital operations and patient satisfaction.
