About the role
We have an opportunity for a Part-Time Radiology Technologist in our OrthoCarolina Spine Center office in Charlotte. The Radiology Technologist will provide diagnostic quality radiographs for physicians and/or physician assistants while protecting employees and patients from unnecessary radiation and usage of appropriate protection standards.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy.
- Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding, and address any questions or concerns.
- Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
- Logs radiological procedures completed, processes charges, and related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and/or radiological supplies in the department.
- Complies with all OrthoCarolina policy and procedures.
- Assists with the transportation of patients between the examination module(s) and the Radiology department.
- Assists with patient flow in the examination module(s) as directed by a supervisor.
Skills
- Ability to operate various manufacturer types of Radiology suite equipment (e.g., Siemens/GE/Philips).
- Skill in proficient use of various manufacturer types of Digital Radiology (DR) and Computer Radiology (CR) reader systems.
- Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
- Skill in positioning patients properly and performing quality diagnostic radiographs.
- Observes safety and security procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Medical Association.
- Minimum of one year of experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
Certifications
- Registered Radiology Tech by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ARRT registry eligible.
- Current CPR certification recommended.
