Radiology Technician (Part-Time)

Essential Functions

  • Performs fluoroscopic procedures for the treatment of patients of all age groups, utilizing professional radiology practice standards.
  • Responsible for imaging patient care, file room duties, general clerical tasks, physician assistance, and other related duties to ensure complete patient outcomes in the outpatient surgery department.
  • Instructs and prepares patients for radiologic examinations by explaining procedures, removing obstructive articles (e.g., jewelry), and positioning patients appropriately.
  • Determines suitable anatomical posture and positions, shields patients, and operates radiologic equipment to take x-ray images of all parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes.
  • Produces, develops, copies, and fixes x-ray films (radiographs) for diagnosing medical problems.
  • Prepares solutions for processing films and assists in fluoroscopic work.
  • Makes clinical photographs of unusual cases and identifies photographs under supervision.
  • Maintains equipment and work area, monitors patients during procedures, and uses radiation protection devices (e.g., lead shields) to minimize exposure.
  • Measures the thickness of the section to be radiographed and adjusts machine controls for appropriate density, detail, and contrast.
  • Keeps records, files, and compiles reports as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the Ohio State Department of Health Services.
  • Two years of experience, including training in radiologic techniques and methods under an accredited medical radiologist or successful completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association.
  • Knowledge of modern radiologic equipment, techniques, human anatomy, standardized radiologic procedures, and radiation safety precautions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, administer emergency aid, prepare processing solutions, keep records, and follow directions.
  • Ability to analyze situations and take effective action, as well as establish cooperative working relationships.

Skills

  • Knowledge of email systems (e.g., Microsoft Outlook) for internal and external communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for creating documents, entering data, and generating reports.
  • Familiarity with WebMD and Intergy systems for data review and entry (preferred).
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, work overtime as required, and multitask while maintaining attention to detail.

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Ability to stand or be on your feet for long periods and lift or turn disabled patients.
  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
  • Ability to concentrate for periods of up to four hours.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and view a computer monitor.

Environmental/Working Conditions

  • Normal busy office environment with frequent telephone work.
  • Climate-controlled office environment during normal business hours.
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work.
