Part-Time Public Address Announcer for Volleyball and Basketball

About the role

The Athletics Department is seeking a Part-Time Public Address Announcer for Volleyball and Basketball to create a professional, energetic, and engaging game-day atmosphere at Auburn University at Montgomery athletic events.

Based on funding source, the applicant cannot be or become an AUM student while working in this position.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the public address announcer for assigned preseason, regular-season, and postseason home contests for volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball.
• Accurately pronounce the names of players, coaches, and other individuals from both teams.
• Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful tone when announcing for all participating teams.
• Work collaboratively with the Athletics game management team to ensure a smooth and professional event experience.
• Review and rehearse player and coach pronunciations prior to each assigned contest.
• Arrive at the venue approximately 30 minutes to one hour prior to the scheduled contest to prepare for the event and confirm all necessary information.
• Remain on site until the conclusion of each assigned event.
• Maintain reliable attendance and availability for evening and weekend events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Availability to work nights and weekends.
• Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• One (1) year of experience serving as a public address announcer at an NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, AHSAA, or AISA institution.

• Knowledge of applicable University, NCAA, and Gulf South Conference rules, practices, and procedures.
• Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.
• Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to follow event scripts, instructions, and established game management procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding names, pronunciations, and game information.

Pay

$20.00/hour
