Part-Time Preschool Teacher

Join our early childhood education team as a Part-Time Preschool Teacher at the Upper Marlboro Community Center. We're looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and dependable individual who is passionate about working with young children and creating a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities.
  • Foster children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and staff.
  • Follow all licensing regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks and meet Maryland childcare licensing requirements.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR (infant/child and adult), or able to become certified within 60 days of hire (current certifications must be maintained throughout employment).
  • Occasionally lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 90-Hour Child Care Certification.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children.

  • Maintain awareness of children’s needs.
  • Observe safety principles and work in a safe manner.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner, for self and others.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
  • Weekends: May vary based on program and community center needs.

Working Conditions

  • Classroom-based early childhood education setting.
  • May include indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Position involves frequent interaction and engagement with preschool-aged children.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a favorable background check, drug and alcohol testing, and fulfillment of all applicable Maryland childcare licensing requirements.
