Donum Dei Classical Academy, founded in 2019 in San Francisco, equips students to become virtuous scholars and servant-leaders through a rigorous classical and Christ-centered education grounded in biblical truth. About the Role

Each member of the team is essential to building a thriving culture that sees and calls out the image of God in students and one another. The Part-Time Preschool Teacher provides a nurturing, Christ-centered learning environment that fosters the academic, social, and spiritual growth of young children. This role requires a love for learning, a passion for classical Christian education, and the ability to create a structured yet joyful classroom atmosphere.

The ideal candidate is a gentle, patient caregiver who supports early learners in a developmentally appropriate, Christ-centered classroom. They assist lead teachers in fostering play, exploration, and the beginnings of academic readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a warm, Christ-centered classroom atmosphere where young children feel safe, known, and valued as image-bearers of God.
  • Support children’s daily care needs, including assisting with bathroom routines, diapering as needed, handwashing, and transitions throughout the day.
  • Prepare, serve, and clean up snacks and lunch (depending on schedule), encouraging good manners, gratitude, and age-appropriate independence.
  • Assist children and supervise nap or rest time, creating a calm, consistent, and peaceful environment that supports healthy rhythms.
  • Actively observe children’s behavior, social interactions, and developmental milestones, communicating observations and concerns promptly to the Preschool Director/Lead Teacher.
  • Provide gentle guidance and redirection to support emotional regulation, peer relationships, and positive behavior.
  • Assist the lead teacher and reinforce key learning objectives by engaging children in interactive play, storytelling, songs, and creative projects that build curiosity and joy in learning.
  • Support small group and individual activities by offering encouragement, modeling appropriate behavior, and providing individualized assistance when needed.
  • Help prepare and organize instructional materials and learning centers to ensure smooth transitions and engaging lessons.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment by assisting with setup, cleanup, sanitizing toys and surfaces, and preparing materials.
  • Support classroom routines and management by reinforcing expectations, modeling respectful behavior, and helping children follow daily schedules.
  • Assist with daily communication to parents and caregivers, sharing highlights from the day and relaying important information as directed by the Lead Teacher.
  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher and preschool team to ensure consistency, safety, and alignment with the mission and values of Donum Dei Classical Academy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 12 core semester units in early childhood education/development.
  • 6 months experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child program.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and spiritual formation throughout the year.
  • Passionate about serving families and connecting them to the community as they navigate the journey of discernment, application, and enrollment.
  • Align with DDCA’s vision to seek the peace and prosperity of the city by cultivating spiritually rooted and classically formed students who, alongside their families, serve and live redemptively for the glory of God.
  • Devoted to the truth of the Gospel and to Jesus as Lord.
  • Serve as a minister of the Gospel.
  • In good standing with a Christian church, which includes weekly attendance and participation as an active worshipper.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Pay

Annual salary of $29,000, paid bi-monthly. Optional partial tuition credit available. 7 days of sick pay frontloaded at the start of the year.
