Part-Time Phlebotomy Lab Assistant

About the role

The position involves collecting blood specimens, handling, and processing samples for laboratory testing. It requires interaction with patients of diverse backgrounds with a focus on compassionate care. The role emphasizes compliance with all applicable regulations to ensure patient safety and privacy.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform specimen collection, reception, and processing tasks.
• Complete computerized patient registration, test ordering, and documentation.
• Distribute reports, store, and retrieve specimens as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and stocked work environment, ensuring quality standards.
• Operate basic laboratory equipment and adhere to all safety, privacy, and regulatory protocols.
• Respond effectively to workflow fluctuations and emergency situations.

Qualifications & Skills

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or II prior to start.
• Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, specimen handling, and patient interaction.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.

Schedule

Part-time, day shifts, variable days, rotating weekends, non-exempt status, approximately 20 hours weekly.

Pay

Pay range of $34.55 to $48.36 per hour.
