Part-Time Performing Arts Teacher

Responsibilities

  • Creating an empowering environment for student expression through song, dance, and drama
  • Teaching enunciation, projection, acting, singing, and movement within a performance-based, culturally responsive curriculum
  • Collaborating on curriculum development with fellow performing arts teachers
  • Designing, directing, and producing multiple school performances annually
  • Managing production elements such as costumes, sets, props, lights, and sound
  • Building positive relationships with students and partnering with families to support learning needs
  • Engaging in professional development, mentorship, and coaching
  • Supporting school culture activities like morning meetings, community events, and student recognition

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a performer, producer, director, or related roles
  • Strong passion for musical theatre and ability to instruct students individually and in groups
  • Commitment to supporting students' social, emotional, and academic growth
  • Enthusiasm for working with families and community engagement
  • Bachelor's degree required; NJ certification eligibility preferred, with certification required post-employment
  • Self-directed learner, receptive to feedback, and dedicated to educational excellence
