Part-Time Overnight Sleep Research Technologist - Psychiatry

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, in Hershey, PA is seeking a part-time overnight sleep technician.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all overnight sleep research recordings;
  • Monitor and track research studies to ensure quality control;
  • Perform PSGs and DXA scans and participate in the collection of Actigraphy, Holter EKG monitor and other research participant data;
  • Maintain supplies for sleep laboratory as well as recording equipment to ensure it is in working order at all times for research studies;
  • Collect and analyze biological samples (saliva, urine, blood) and knowledge of phlebotomy desired but not required. Training is available if needed;
  • Participate in aspects of sleep data management for assigned projects including: update and maintain databases; resolve problem data issues; track data collection forms, and other project materials; perform verification procedures;
  • Collaborate with project coordinators, statisticians, clinical investigators, clinical personnel, and other data management personnel to plan and implement sleep data management tasks for research projects.

Requirements

  • Education and Training: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) strongly preferred. Will consider sleep studies training in candidates with suitable experience.
  • Work Related Experience: 1 year related work experience required; 5 years preferred.

  • The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position:
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
