Role Responsibilities
- Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1 service.
- Support individuals in mental health management through identifying coping skills, practicing coping skills, and alternative methods.
- Teach and model community integration skills such as self-managing medications, managing personal finances, appropriate interpersonal interactions, managing the public transportation system, completing the necessary tasks to maintain a home, and accessing community resources.
- Interacts informally with individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate behavior.
- Participates in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events.
- Teaches healthy living habits and develops the accompanying skills.
Required Qualification and Experience
- The Mental Health Worker shall be qualified under Minnesota law as follows: High School Diploma or GED and relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Ability to pass a Department of Human Services background check.
- Ability to pass the BCA Criminal Background Check and the Sexual Exploitation of Patients by Psychotherapist screen required by DHS.
- Ability to pass screening required by Federal Human Services office of the Inspector General.
- To organize and work independently.
- To be willing to travel within the Metro Area, for applicable mileage reimbursements, with a current driver’s license, clean record, and personal vehicle with insurance; and able to transport clients in that vehicle.
- To possess a person-centered approach, consistent with the Philosophical approach of the individual program and RTI.
- To work with culturally diverse populations.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences fields OR 2000 hours of supervised experience providing clinical services in mental health or children's emotional care.

Physical & Mental Requirements
- Employees in this role must be able to: Walk, stand, sit, bend, climb stairs, use a ladder, and perform crisis prevention/intervention techniques.
- Use hands for writing, typing, data entry, and medication dispensing.
- Lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally exert physical effort during duties.
- Maintain vision and hearing necessary for reading charts, operating office equipment, using a computer, and driving a vehicle.
Compensation
$11.41 per hour.
