JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Penn State College of Medicine is recruiting 2 part-time Sleep Research Technologists to conduct sleep studies in research participants/patients with opioid use disorder.

  • Primary responsibilities will be the application and monitoring of polysomnography measures (EEG, blood oxygenation, heart rate, respiration), maintenance of protocol integrity, and effective communication with the research team.
  • The successful candidate will be comfortable working with research participants/patients who have opioid use disorder as well as familiar with polysomnography technology.
  • This position is ideal for sleep technicians who are willing to work part-time and be part of this collaborative research team.

Work Hours

  • This is a part-time, PRN position which includes applying polysomnography measures (EEG, blood oxygenation, heart rate, respiration) to research participants.
  • The position requires travel to Caron Foundation at Wernersville, PA.
  • There is no requirement for overnight monitoring and stay for this position.
  • Work schedules will be determined by availability of research participants, typically between Monday to Sunday, between 8 pm to 12 midnight, with allotted 4 hours per each research patient.
  • The candidate will be compensated on an hourly basis and will include travel time.
  • No travel expenses will be paid separately.

Work Location

The primary work site will be Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, PA.

Qualifications

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) with one to two years of experience in performing Polysomnograms are preferred.
  • Sleep technologists without RSPGT credentialing with two years of experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Own transportation required to travel to affiliated research and clinical sites.

Clearances Required

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check

Employment with the University Will Require

Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
