Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive student evaluations based on referrals and IEP requirements;
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans under physician and IEP direction;
- Provide direct therapy services utilizing therapeutic exercises, physical agents, and activities of daily living (ADL) training to improve functional skills and motor development;
- Possess strong communication skills to partner with teachers, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to align treatment goals and discuss student progress;
- Actively participate in IEP meetings and service planning;
- Complete timely, detailed, and accurate documentation, reporting, and billing in strict accordance with organizational and state guidelines;
- Provide necessary supervision, guidance, and direction to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and/or rehabilitation aides in compliance with state practice acts;
- Maintain safe, clean, and learning-conducive therapy settings and equipment; ensure full compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate of an AOTA-accredited Occupational Therapy program;
- Active Occupational Therapist license in the state of practice, along with a current NBCOT certification;
- Minimum of 1 year of occupational therapy experience, with a strong preference for school-based or pediatric settings;
- Robust understanding of pediatric therapy techniques, student-centered care, and fine motor/sensory skill development;
- Strong organizational and documentation skills;
- Flexibility and reliability to comfortably travel between and support multiple school sites if required.
