Job Description And Position Requirements

Penn State Altoona, a public related institution, invites candidates for the job of Head Men’s Tennis Coach (part-time).

Reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the management of all aspects of the men’s tennis program.

Job Duties

  • Game coaching
  • Recruitment of student athletes
  • Scheduling Practice Sessions
  • Team travel
  • Supporting student-athletes
  • Supervision of assistant coaches

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Ability to physically demonstrate complex movements and skills on the practice field required.
  • Demonstrated success in a soccer program at the college or an equivalently high level, including evidence of successful student retention and team success.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate and develop Division III student-athletes, knowledge of the sport and a verifiable ability to teach both fundamentals and strategies of the game is necessary.
  • This person must possess a working knowledge of NCAA rules, a commitment to high academic standards, and the NCAA Division III philosophy.
  • A successful candidate will have a reputation for integrity.
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check

Background Checks/Clearances:

  • This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Campus Security Crime Statistics:

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
