About the role
The Industrial Technology, Packaging, and Entrepreneurship Area in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly is seeking applications for a pool of part-time Entrepreneurship lecturers during the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2026-27 academic year, which begins August 17, 2026. Positions are available as determined by need and funding for teaching assignments in entrepreneurship fundamentals, lean startup, design thinking, customer development, funding and managing high-growth startups, business basics for entrepreneurs, and technology entrepreneurship. Assignments are contingent upon class availability, scheduling, budget, and enrollments.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate entrepreneurship courses, particularly those that emphasize experiential learning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Entrepreneurship or a closely related discipline.
- Evidence of current engagement in the professional field through ongoing work, training, or alignment with industry trends.
- Significant and relevant industry experience demonstrating depth of knowledge and practical application in entrepreneurship.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate entrepreneurship courses.
- Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily.
- The person hired must reside in the state of California at the time of hire and for the entirety of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in business or a related discipline.
- Current and relevant industry or teaching experience that demonstrates competency to teach entrepreneurship courses that emphasize experiential learning.
Pay
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211
