Part Time Instructor Pool - Ethnic Studies (African American Studies)

About the Role

Part-time faculty members support the visions, missions, and values of the colleges and District. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, student evaluation, curriculum development, student advising, professional development, and assignment-specific tasks.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in Ethnic Studies (African American Studies) and related courses.
• Evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
• Develop and update curriculum as needed.
• Advise students on academic and career matters.
• Engage in professional development activities.
• Fulfill assignment-specific requirements as determined by the department.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies or a closely related field, such as:
  • American Studies/Ethnicity
  • Latino Studies/La Raza Studies/Central American Studies
  • Latin American Studies
  • Cross Cultural Studies
  • Race and Ethnic Relations
  • Asian-American Studies
  • African-American Studies
• Equivalency may be considered with submission of an Equivalency Determination Form.

Working Conditions

Faculty positions may require extended periods of standing and walking in a typical classroom setting. Specific conditions vary by subject taught.

Pay

Starting salary range: $70.84 – $86.11 per hour (Class II, step 1 to Class VI, step 1) based on the Adjunct, Overload and Substitute Salary Schedule.

Schedule

Work hours vary based on assignment. Positions are anticipated to begin in Fall 2026.
