Part Time Instructor Pool - English (Umoja)

About the role

Under administrative leadership, part-time faculty perform tasks that support the visions, missions, and values of the colleges and District. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, student evaluation, curriculum development, student advising, professional development, and any assignment-specific needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition
• OR Bachelor’s in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition AND Master’s in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism
• OR the equivalent

Responsibilities

• Umoja Program Teaching: Teach sheltered English composition sections (C1000 in fall and C1001 in spring) within the Umoja cohort model and design culturally responsive curriculum grounded in experiences and histories related to the Black and African Diaspora. Classes are currently scheduled on campus at Cuyamaca College on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
• Umoja Co-Coordinating: Co-coordinate the Umoja program in collaboration with counseling faculty through recruitment, events, mentorship, and collaboration.
• Equity & Student Success: Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the College, including IDEAA principles and equitable access, retention, and success for diverse student populations.
