JOB GOAL/PURPOSE
The primary purpose of this position is to enable children with disabilities to access their education.
Essential Functions
- Evaluate fine motor, visual perceptual, functional and sensory motor skills as they relate to the educational setting.
- Plan and implement therapy programs for children with a variety of developmental, fine motor, functional, musculoskeletal, and sensory motor impairments.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents and staff.
- Maintain appropriate licensing as an Occupational Therapist.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with colleagues.
- Prepare written reports, maintain progress reports, rate goals, and attend and participate in IEP team meetings.
- Maintain records/files documenting referral, assessment, recommendations, and therapy notes.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in occupational therapy from a college with an accredited occupational therapy program.
- National certification (NBCOT).
- State of Maine Licensure.
- Hold a valid State of Maine Criminal History Records Check Approval.
- Public School experience preferred.
- Knowledge of developmental, orthopedic, and neurological disorders.
- Knowledge of sensory-based theories, tools, and strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
