Part-Time Faculty: TV & Digital News Reporting I (Fall 2026)

About the role

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach a section of BDJ 664 TV & Digital News Reporting I during the Fall 2026 semester (4 credits).

Responsibilities

It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:

• Developing a syllabus.
• Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
• Preparing for classes.
• Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
• Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree preferred.
• A bachelor’s degree with relevant industry experience will also be considered.
• University level teaching experience is a plus.
• The successful candidate will have substantial experience in writing and reporting local TV news, both packaged and live.
• Since students gather information and report online and through social media, the candidate must have experience in storytelling across platforms.
