PART-TIME FACULTY: Art and Art History - (UI Graduate Certificate Program)

Duties and Responsibilities

A selected candidate will teach one (1) or two (2) courses in the Department of Art and Art History. Courses are asynchronous and delivered in an accelerated 7-week format. Part-time faculty are not required to engage in research or service activities but must hold regular office hours and be available to assist students enrolled in their courses. They are expected to stay current in their fields of instruction and with pedagogical methods and instructional technologies.

Online teaching requires certification and possibly training by the University. Courses are three (3) credits. Specific Responsibilities Include:

• Delivering engaging and interactive online lessons and assignments on UI Design principles, tools, and techniques through our course management platform (Brightspace)
• Providing regular feedback, guidance, and mentoring support to students to facilitate their learning and skill development while conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn
• Cultivating a collaborative and participatory online learning environment that values diversity of people, ideas, cultures, and forms of expression
• Evaluating student performance and progress, and providing timely assessment
• Staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in User Interface Design

Required Qualifications and Preferred Qualifications

Candidates must have a master’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field or a bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional experience in areas such as UI Design Styling and Prototyping, UI Motion Design, UI Information Visualization, and UI Design Principles, Wireframing/Prototyping, and/or content optimization and strategy. Candidates should have technical knowledge and proficiency in interaction design technologies (e.g., Figma, Sketch, XD) and the Adobe Suite, as well as remote collaboration tools.

Preferred Previous teaching or instructional experience at college level, particularly in an online or remote setting.
