Part Time English Language Learner Paraprofessional - Canyon View Middle School

About the role

Canyon View Middle School is seeking a Part-Time English Language Learner Support Paraprofessional and Lunch Monitor to work 27.5 hours per week. This role provides instructional assistance in Language Arts and math to students who are newcomers, non-speakers, or English learners at various levels, and supports other ESL-related school programs as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional personnel in teaching language arts to non-native English-speaking pupils using district-adopted courses of study and learning activities.
• Instruct pupils in basic communication skills to facilitate their transition into the regular instructional program.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction in math, science, and social studies to adapt the curriculum to each pupil’s needs.
• Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of classroom management systems.
• Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with others.
• Assist in file maintenance and compliance for each ELL student.
• Support language screening and testing using the WIDA screener and WIDA ACCESS language assessment.
• Attend district and school training, including yearly online WIDA training courses.
• Interact with parents as needed to support each student’s language development.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance.
• Operate office equipment such as computers and copy machines.
• Comply with established district policies and procedures.

Schedule

27.5 hours per week.
