Part Time English Language Learner Paraprofessional - South Elementary

About the role

South Elementary School is seeking a Part-Time English Language Learner Support Paraprofessional to work 15 hours per week. This position provides instructional assistance in Language Arts and math to students who are newcomers, non-speakers, or English learners at various levels. The assistant also supports other ESL-related school programs as assigned and follows the established language acquisition program.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional personnel in teaching language arts to non-native English-speaking pupils, utilizing courses of study adopted by the ICSD Professional Learning Department and other appropriate learning activities.
• Instruct pupils in basic communication skills to facilitate their transition into the regular instructional program.
• Provide individualized and small group instruction in math, science, and social studies to adapt the curriculum to each pupil’s needs.
• Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of classroom management systems.
• Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with others.
• Assist in file maintenance and compliance for each ELL student.
• Support language screening and testing using the WIDA screener and WIDA ACCESS language assessment.
• Attend district and school training, including yearly online WIDA training courses.
• Interact with parents as needed to support each student’s language development.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance.
• Operate office equipment such as computers and copy machines.
• Comply with established district policies and procedures.

Schedule

This is a part-time position working 15 hours per week.
