About the role

Canyon View Middle School is seeking a Part-Time English Language Learner Support Paraprofessional and Lunch Monitor to work 27.5 hours per week. This role provides instructional assistance in Language Arts and math to students who are newcomers, non-speakers, or English learners at various levels, and assists in other ESL-related school programs as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assists instructional personnel in teaching language arts to non-native English-speaking pupils, utilizing courses of study adopted by the ICSD Professional Learning Department and other appropriate learning activities.
• Instructs pupils in basic communication skills to facilitate their transition into the regular instructional program.
• Provides individualized and small group instruction in math, science, and social studies as needed to adapt the curriculum to each pupil’s needs.
• Participates in the development, maintenance, and implementation of systems for classroom management.
• Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with others.
• Assists in file maintenance and compliance for each ELL student.
• Assists with language screening and testing using the WIDA screener and WIDA ACCESS language assessment.
• Attends district and school training as needed, including all yearly online WIDA training courses.
• Interacts with parents as needed to support the language development of each student.
• Operates various types of office equipment such as computers and copy machines.
• Complies with established district policies and procedures.
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance is required.

Schedule

27.5 hours per week.
