Part-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP 1)

About the role

Westwood Apartments is a supportive program promoting self-supporting emotional and social independence for residents. Employees are expected to advocate for peers, be involved in community events, and manage crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations
• Use effective communication and time management skills
• Be a member of a highly effective team
• Complete mandatory trainings such as CPR/First Aid
• Ensure health, wellness, and safety by managing crisis situations and providing appropriate supervision
• Build positive relationships and maintain a therapeutic environment
• Implement and document person-centered plans
• Use foundational teaching skills
• Transport and escort people supported on activities, appointments, and visits

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License with no more than 5 points
• Experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
• Completion of 2 days of NJS Mandated DDD initial trainings upon hire
• TB test required for most positions

Qualifications

• Some college education is a plus
• New Jersey State drug test screening is mandatory
