Part-Time Dialysis Patient Care Technician

About the Role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports patients with end-stage renal disease by assisting clinical staff during dialysis treatments, ensuring safe care and optimal outcomes. They participate in infection control, patient education, monitor vital signs, set up and break down dialysis systems, insert and remove access needles, and document patient status.

Responsibilities

• Assist with infection control, risk management, and patient education activities
• Guide new patients through education plans
• Monitor and document vital signs and machine readings
• Set up and manage dialysis blood systems
• Insert and remove access needles and monitor patient during treatment
• Calculate weight loss to reach dry weight and organize workload
• Maintain patient privacy, inventory, and perform lab work

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Desire to collaborate with care teams

Qualifications

• Preferred healthcare experience; certifications like CNA, EMT, or phlebotomy are a plus
• Training provided; dialysis experience not required
